This is a very nice W. & L. E. stiff leg tripod.
This style tripod would have been sold by Gurley from 1928 and newer.
The legs appear to have yellow paint down the center of the legs but should
clean up pretty easily.
Approximately 60" tall with the legs together.

This is a very nice split stiff leg tripod that should fit Gurley transits
and larger levels.
This style tripod would have been sold from the late 1800's to the
early 1900's. There is red paint down the center of each leg. I
am not sure if that is original or if it was added.

Eugene Dietzgen Stiff Leg Tripod $195.00
This is a split stiff leg tripod that should fit
Dietzgen transits. Some of the wings on the wing nuts are broken
off. There is a dent above the threads but does not interfere with the
threads or an instrument attaching to the tripod. Also one of the legs
has a small split in the wood which can easily be fixed.
This tripod is approximately 54" tall with the legs together.

This is a very nice W. & L. E. Gurley mahogany double beveled tripod.
One leg has been repaired (see photo below) and it is missing one nut on one
of the hinges. This tripod is
approximately 45" tall with the legs together.
Opening = .516
Approximate Ball size = .560
Under the cap the male threads = .72 X 40TPI
I believe this tripod was used with the smaller compasses from Gurley.

This is a very nice W. & L. E. Gurley mahogany double beveled tripod.
This style tripod would have been sold by Gurley from the mid 1840's to the
mid 1870's. One of the legs has had the point replaced (see photo
below) This tripod is approximately 58" tall with the legs together.
It is in very nice condition for a tripod that is 135+ years old.

Split Leg Tripod

This is a very nice W. & L. E. Gurley mahogany split leg tripod.
This style tripod would have been sold by Gurley from the mid 1890's to the
mid 1920's.
This tripod is 58" tall with the legs together.
This tripod belonged to L.C. Cottrill of Andrew County Missouri. He
was the County surveyor for Andrew County from 1919 - 1920. His name
is marked on this tripod cap and gives it good background that it was used
during this time frame. L.C. taught school in Missouri until
1914. Became the county surveyor in 1919 and was also the Republican
Party Chairman for the county central committee. He died in 1938 at
the age of 77 and it lists on his death certificate that he was a retired
Postmaster.
It is in beautiful original condition.

This is a very cool old W. & L. E. Gurley plane table tripod.
This is a very clean tripod but unfortunately it is missing the center
sphere. It must have been attached to the board when it got separated.
This tripod actually has a wooden head with the optional leveling screws
attached so you could adjust the board more accurately.
Measurement across the sphere opening is 3 1/4"
This
tripod is 51" tall with the legs together.

This is a very nice Buff & Buff or C. L. Berger & Sons stiff leg tripod dated to around the 1910's.
This tripod is for a three leveling screw style instrument with the spring
loaded center bolt. This tripod has a tag on it from the University of
Oklahoma.
The tripod is 61" tall with the legs together. The center to center
measurement between the leveling screw pads are 5 3/4".
This tripod is in very good condition.
Thread Size = 1.025 X 20 TPI
This tripod should work with older Buff & Buff or C. L. Berger & Sons Theodolites with
three leveling screws.

This is a very nice Dietzgen Johnson Head Plane Table extension leg tripod with cap.
This was used by the US Army Corp of Engineers.
It is in excellent original condition with all the clamps in working
order. This is the smaller Explorers' tripod that is smaller and
lighter than the normal sized Johnson Head tripods.
This tripod comes complete with a canvas case
Collapsed the tripod is 34" tall.
